How does it work?

The two included antennas are configured to communicate to each wirelessly.  One antenna set to transmit, and the other configured to receive.  The link operates like a transparent bridge, so basically an invisible Ethernet cable.  Single port POE injectors are included for each side, and they will connect to the network switch, or other LAN device in each location.  Power and data are sent over the Ethernet cable, which is the only connection to the outside antenna.

There are signal LEDs on the outside for alignment assistance.  There is also a web based GUI that you can log into, using the IP addresses for each radio.  This will give you real time readings of the signal, noise and capacity.

Full-Band Certification with DFS

This gigabit wireless Ethernet bridge pair covers the entire, license-free, 5 GHz spectrum and includes DFS approval. Anyone around the world can deploy and operate the GNS-5423-HD link in the 5 GHz range practically anywhere they choose (subject to local country regulations).  Great for short range connections, as the antennas included are small and lightweight.  Great for long range deployments, as the transmit power is high, and the channel width adjustable.

Optimal Operation in Unlicensed Bands

Channel width flexibility (10/20/30/40/50/60/80/100 MHz) allows independent TX and RX channel frequency configurations anywhere within the radio band to avoid local interference, and the channel centers are selectable in 1 MHz increments. You also have the ability to program different uplink and downlink duty cycles to support asymmetric traffic requirements. What this means is that in noise free environments, where you are not competing with other 5 GHz radios, you will have the ability to get maximum speed using 100 MHz channel widths with this gigabit wireless Ethernet bridge. For more interference prone areas, you have the ability to step down the channel width, and minimize interference.
